ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday reiterated that the present government accords top priority to the promotion of higher education in all disciplines including medical sciences.
He called upon the universities to focus on bringing out latest and quality research in all fields, especially in the disciplines like medical and allied health sciences and other sectors.
The President said this during his meeting with a delegation of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad, that called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. Those present during the meeting included among others Vice Chancellor Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Prof Javed Akram, Prof Dr. Khaliq uz Zaman, Dr. Rao Sohail Yasir Khan and Prof Dr. Tanvir Khaliq.
Highlighting the critical role of the universities, the President urged to focus on the evaluation of the performance of universities as per international standards.
He also stressed upon greater collaboration between the universities and industry to promote research, job creation and preparing the young generation of country to efficiently meet the requirements of market besides being able to compete at global level in various fields including medical and allied health sciences.
The President also emphasized the need for developing and strengthening linkages of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University with the reputed international universities and health institutes so as to benefit from the global experiences and expertise in medical sciences.
The delegation thanked the President for meeting and his keen interest in the promotion of education in the country.
The Vice Chancellor apprised the President about academic activities, research development and other achievements, ongoing and future projects and plans and different issues of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad.
The President assured all out support and patronage to the University in its educational pursuits and plans and the promotion of health education in Pakistan.
