ISLAMABAD – Federal Minster for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid during his meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik has made an offer for the establishment of a new campus of the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) in Gawadar shortly.
Dr Abdul Malik readily accepted the offer and expressed his gratitude to the federal minister for opening campus of this prestigious institute in Gawadar which will definitely go a long way in the economic prosperity of the people Balochistan. In the CIIT Gawadar Campus, the minister said that market-oriented disciplines like marine sciences, geo physics, information technology, management sciences and oceanography would be taught to the students.
He reiterated the commitment of the government and said that development in the field of science and technology was the top priority of the present government. By the establishment of CIIT campus at Gawadar, a quality education would be provided to the students in their own province, the minister added. He also offered scholarships for the students of Balochistan at the CIIT main campus at Islamabad.
The chief minister thanked the federal minister for the generous offer and said that the provincial government would provide land and other facilities to materialize this noble idea of the federal government at the earliest. CIIT Rector Dr Junaid Zadi and senior officials of the Ministry of Science and Technology were also present in the meeting.
