QUETTA: A man and his son were among three people who were gunned down by unidentified assailants near the Irrigation Colony on Sariab Road on Friday.
The man and his son were sitting inside a butcher shop when armed men opened fire at them. “Father, son and a shopper were killed as a result of firing,” said a senior police officer Imran Qureshi.
The bodies were shifted to Provincial Sandeman Hospital for autopsies. The attackers managed to flee from the scene after carrying out the deadly attack despite the presence of a huge crowd.
“There are several shops of butchers but the specific shop was targeted,” Qureshi said, adding that the police are investigating the incident. “It is premature to comment who could be responsible for the killings,” he added. The deceased were identified as Abdul Kareem and his son Akhtar Kakar and a buyer Bor Mohammed.
The bodies were handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities. “The police will soon record statements of the grieving families,” police said, adding that the victims were residents of Quetta.
