SHANGHAI: Former president and Co-Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Asif Ali Zardari has said that “dialogue, dialogue and only dialogue” is the best way to settle the political standoff.
Talking to different gatherings in China on Friday, he said that the PPP believes in talks and did not go to extreme in politics. “It is my wish to settle political crises through peaceful means,” he stated.
He added that people sitting in the protest sit-ins have accepted the results of general elections despite rigging. Zardari contacted Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq over telephone to discuss the latest political situation. Zardari said that ultimately the issues involved have to be resolved by the political parties themselves. According to Information Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, Haq has decided to expedite the consultative process to defuse the prevailing political crisis.
Zardari said protest was a right of everyone but the time was not suitable for protests. He said the PPP also had reservations over the election results but it accepted them for the continuity of democracy.
