ISLAMABAD: The judicial commission on Wednesday approved the appointment of Lahore High Court Chief Justice, Justice Umar Atta Bandial as a judge of the Supreme Court, and that of Justice Khawaja Imtiaz as the new chief justice of the Lahore High Court, in its meeting on Wednesday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani presided over the meeting. The judicial commission also approved Athar Minallah as additional judge of the Islamabad High Court for a period of one year. The meeting was attended by the members of the judicial commission, including three senior most judges of the Supreme Court Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, and Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Justice Muhammad Anwar Kansi.
Attorney General of Pakistan Salman Aslam Butt and member nominated by the Pakistan Bar Council, who is also a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Muhammad Yasin Azaad also attended the meeting. Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid, who also holds additional charge of the Ministry of Law Division, also attended the meeting as a member of the commission.
