Dismayed Meera urges PM to ‘protect’ her

DUBAI - Pakistani film actress, Meera, who seems to have exiled herself to Duabi since an armed attack on her house in Lahore, Meera says that she will not return to Pakistan until the state provided her with foolproof security.

“My life is in danger and I request Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to be kind enough to order security for me”, Meera said, while making an impassioned appeal to the prime minister. Meera remains in ‘hot waters’ after a risqué private video, which allegedly shows her and her boyfriend being intimate, went viral on the Internet. She had denied the woman in the explicit video was her. On May 17, unidentified gunmen opened fire outside her residence in Lahore and fled from the scene.

She had termed the incident as doubly deplorable. “It is utterly shocking. I just cannot believe it actually has happened”, she said then. Meera also said that it was hard for her to come to grips with the thought that someone out there wanted to kill her. “Being an artiste I am not a threat to anyone, but rather an embodiment of a message of peace and love. I do not deserve to be treated like this”, said Meera.
