Punjab govt rejects APC’s demands

LAHORE – Punjab Minister for Law Rana Mashhood on Sunday rejected all five demands of all-party conference (APC) and accused its participants of indulging in politics over dead bodies.

Addressing a press conference here, the provincial minister said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had himself regretted the Model Town incident and that he was committed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He said that Tahir ul Qadri was issuing proactive statements against the government. “A judicial commission is already holding a transparent inquiry into Model Town incident,” he said. “We should wait for the finding of joint investigation team,” he added.

“Power is the only objective of parties which attended Qadri’s conference and people of Pakistan will thwart their nefarious designs,” he said. The law minister also commended Pakistan People’s Party and other opposition parties, which stayed away from the conference.
