ISLAMABAD – Former federal minister and senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Sherry Rehman has urged the government to penalize those who refuse the administration of anti-polio drops to their children.
On Sunday, Sherry wrote on micro-blogging website Twitter that the government should consider declaring polio emergency in Pakistan. “As four more polio cases take up Pakistan's total to 88, the govt should consider a polio emergency, penalizing vaccine refusals.”
It is pertinent to mention here that many people in Pakistan are refusing the anti-polio vaccination to their children. Scores of Pakistanis have been distrustful of anti-polio drives, fearing they were a plot to sterilize them.
