Eight arrested in attack on Sikhs in Peshawar

PESHAWAR – Police on Friday arrested eight accused allegedly involved in assisting assailants who attacked shops of small Sikh community in Hashtnagri area in the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 6.

Jagmohan Singh – a trader belonging to the Sikh community – was killed and two others – Pram Singh and Manmit Singh – were injured in the attack at the Khush Hal Bazaar of Hashtnagri area. On Friday, the police arrested eight suspects who were being interrogated.

The small minority community urged the provincial government to give them a complete protection. After incidents of kidnappings in Pakhtunkhwa and nearby tribal areas, some minority members have decided to wind up their shops and shift to other places in Pakistan.
