A policeman was gunned down by robbers in New Karachi on Monday. According to details, Ahmed aged 38 was returning home with his father Ghazanfar after withdrawing his pension money when robbers intercepted them near New Karachi’s Sector 11-D. Ahmed resisted when the robbers asked him to hand over the money upon which the robbers opened fire. Consequently, Ahmed suffered bullet injuries and succumbed to his wounds on the spot. Ahmed’s body was shifted to AbbasiShaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police have launched further investigations into the incident. According to New Karachi superintendent of police (SP), a 30-bore pistol was used in the killing. He said that it was a ‘targeted attack’. Police officers have been frequently targeted since the Karachi operation began in 2013. On October 3, a traffic warden died after gunmen opened fire in Ahsanabad.
