COAS for united efforts to defeat terrorism

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday emphasised the need for more harmony and coordination among all the security forces and intelligence agencies for an integrated response to terrorist threat.
The COAS expressed these views during his visit to Karachi Corps Headquarters. He was given a detailed briefing on the overall law and order and security situation of the city, revealed an ISPR statement issued on Wednesday. On arrival at Karachi, the COAS was received by Karachi Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani. Later, the COAS visited headquarters of the Airport Security Force (ASF). Speaking to the troops of the ASF, the COAS commended their professionalism, commitment and acknowledged their valour in averting a terrorist attack at the Karachi airport in May this year. The COAS met the families of the ASF men killed and appreciated their sacrifices. He also pledged army’s fullest support in enhancing ASF’s capacity, and anti-terrorist training of the troops, as being provided to police forces across the country.
