90 % of PTI, PAT demands already met: Sirajul Haq

LAHORE - Ameer Jamaat e Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq has said that the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek deserved commendation for having achieved 90 percent of their demands through their peaceful, prolonged struggle.

He said that the remaining issues would also be resolved in accordance with the constitution and the law. He was addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad after a meeting with Pakistan People’s Party central leader Qamruz Zaman Kaira.

The JI chief reiterated that the JI would under no circumstances, support any unconstitutional or unlawful move. He said that as the PTI and the PAT and the government believed in the constitution, the law and democracy, there was no reason why were the issues not resolved through dialogue.

Sirajul Haq said that the JI as well as all political parties had been demanding electoral reforms and fresh elections without these reforms would be meaningless. Earlier, a delegation of different tribes from North Waziristan called on the JI chief and apprised him of the problems arising due to the military operation.

Sirajul Haq stressed upon the government to allow the displaced families belonging to areas which had been cleared to return home and also arrange transport for them. He said that a high level Jirga should be set up to assess the losses caused by the military operation and cover that.
