KARACHI – At least three boys aged between 10 and 12 were killed at a religious seminary on Monday when one of them brought a grenade from the street and it exploded.
The blast, initially thought to be an attack, occurred in Orangi. Senior police official Javed Alam Odho told AFP the explosion at a religious seminary killed at least three students and wounded six others.
Another senior police official Irfan Baloch told AFP that one of the students, aged 12, had picked up a hand grenade in the street and taken it into the classroom, where it exploded. Parshotum Rathore, a senior doctor at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, confirmed the deaths and said the dead were aged between 10 and 12.
He put the number of injured at more than 12 and said the condition of four of those hurt was critical. Nobody has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
