ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday verified 25 of 31 resignations of the PTI lawmakers as correct.
According to parliamentary sources, 25 resignations were correctly addressed to the speaker whereas rest of the six have been written to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
Three PTI lawmakers, Gulzar Khan, Nasir Khattak and Mussarat Ahmedzai have not submitted their resignations.
The NA Secretariat verified the resignations on Tuesday and now the lawmakers would be contacted to further verify them as per the assembly rules.
The exercise would be carried out to ascertain whether these resignations have been tendered voluntarily or under pressure.
The political parties appealed to the speaker not to dispose of the matter quickly to resolve the issue triggered by the PTI’s sit-in outside the Parliament House against polls rigging.
To such appeals, the speaker did not look in haste so far, but he pronounced that the matter cannot be dragged for a long time and has to be decided as soon as possible.
