FAISALABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that free and fair election are the only guarantee for positive change, development and progress in the country.
Addressing thousands of party activists in Faisalabad’s Dhobi Ghatt ground on Sunday, Imran said his party, with the support of the masses, will lay the foundation of a new Pakistan where countrymen will enjoy social justice and all their rights, while their aspirations will be fulfilled. He said that no power can stop people from starting a new era of development and progress in Pakistan. He accused the government of using the state machinery to distract people from the PTI rally.
“I want to tell the ruling elite class that passion and ideology could not be hurdled by force or any other tactic,” he added. The PTI chief said that a year has passed since the government took over the administrative charge, but there has been no positive change in the country during this time. “Laptops are being distributed to buy youth. I want to ask youth if they are getting jobs,” he asked. “I am the only politician who is given money to run the Shaukat Khanum Hospital.”
The PTI chief remarked that instead of breaking the begging bowl the government has broken all records of foreign loans in just one year. He pledged that he would tax the rich after coming into power. Imran said that money collected in the form of taxes would be spent on people. “The biggest problem being faced by Pakistan is family politics. This is not democracy, it is monarchy,” he contended.
“I am talking about re-opening of four constituencies for voters. Massive rigging has been carried out in every constituency we have opened so far,” he contended. Imran called for action under Article 6 against the responsible for election rigging. He announced that the PTI would stage its next rally in Sialkot on June 7. He said that no power in the world can stop his party’s workers from creating a new Pakistan. “People have rejected the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s circus and participated in PTI’s rally,” he said, adding that the PML-N had no idea of PTI’s passion.
The cricketer-turned-politician said that the PML-N thinks that everyone can be bought, “but they don’t realise that passion cannot be bought”. He said that youngsters are with him, even though his party never has tried to buy them off through laptop schemes or youth festivals. Imran said that his party will bring system of justice in the country. He reiterated that the system of disbelief can work but a system with injustice cannot. He said that power load shedding continues even though the government has paid the energy debts and increased power tariff. Imran said that he had challenged the government that if it hands over electricity production and distribution to PTI’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, they will bring down electricity prices and stop electricity theft.
