ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Dr Asif Kirmani on Friday said PML-N would award party tickets to suitable candidates for upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) election on merit after consultation with the parliamentary board. Addressing a press conference, Kirmani said the party will field its candidates in all constituencies of Aazd Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming general elections. He expressed confidence that the PML-N, under the leadership of PM Nawaz Sharif, would win the elections in AJK with a vast majority. He said AJK would be made a developed and prosperous state as per the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The party, he claimed, has received thousands of applications for tickets and people are more enthusiastic toward participating in the elections from its platform. To a question regarding postponement of meeting of parliamentary board twice, Kirmani said the meeting was cancelled first due to the joint session of parliament and then weather conditions. Chaudhry Yusuf from Muslim Conference, AJK along with other members formally joined the PML-N during the press conference. Addressing the media, Chaudhry Yusuf said, “I took the decision of joining Muslim Conference in 1985, and it was a right decision. And now after many years I took another decision of joining PML-N, which would also prove to be a right step.” PML-N AJK President Raja Farooq Haider Khan congratulated Yusuf for joining the PML-N and urged all the party members to maintain discipline for success. He said if the PML-N came into power in AJK, it would work to improve the deteriorating condition of institutions in the region. PML-N AJK Senior Vice President Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan said a PML-N government will also make AJK an exemplary region by working for the welfare of masses.
