Terrorists surrender

As many as 12 terrorists have surrendered to the forces in the centre of surrender established by the Pakistan Army, the military statement said. “This is a huge success for the security forces,” said NWA Political Agent Siraj Ahmad Khan. “Today’s action has brought the terrorists on their toes,” he said of Wednesday’s shelling and subsequent surrender of the 12 TTP militants while talking to Daily Times. The military would decide the future course of action regarding the militants who have surrendered unconditionally and who might give up arms in the days to come, the NWA top official said. Most areas of the NWA are now free of civilian population due to civilian displacements, Khan added. “Very soon Miranshah and Mir Ali would be free of civilian population and terrorists would be taken on in the ground action,” Siraj Khan stated. So far, more than 455,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) are out of the NWA and are mainly moving in with their relatives or friends in Bannu, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Lakki Marwat and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Only 20 families have so far registered themselves in Bannu IDPs camp. A curfew has been imposed on Bannu-Miranshah Road for an indefinite period on Wednesday. Due to the curfew, relocation of IDPs from North Waziristan areas has halted. According to official sources, another 440 families comprising 4,916 individuals have been registered as IDPs in Bannu and its adjacent districts. FATA Disaster Management Authority said that the total number of IDPs has now reached 455,597. According to Dera Ismail Khan deputy commissioner, 25,000 IDPs have arrived in the district. Three ration distribution points have been established for IDPs at Bannu, two at Dera Ismail Khan and one at Tank. Distribution of 4,473 tonnes of ration for 40,000 families has commenced. Each ration bag contains 20/80 kg of flour as per size of the family, 5 litre cooking oil, 9 kg pulses, 1 kg date, and 1 kg tea, the ISPR said. Thirty-two relief good collection points have been established by the army in all major cities of the country for collection of donations.
