ISLAMABAD – Former federal minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) leader MNA Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Tuesday predicted that Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar would replace Nawaz Sharif as the interim prime minister as the current chief executive of Pakistan would have to quit his office due to political pressure.
Speaking to a private TV channel, the outspoken politician said that there would be a ‘political sacrifice’ before Eidul Azha. “One or two important developments will take place within the next two days,” he said. He also said that Senator Dar would be made the interim prime minister while no decision was yet taken on the chief minister of Punjab.
Rashid said that he would stand with Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri if he was targeted by the government. Responding to a question, he said that he would tender his resignation immediately after Imran Khan's resignation was accepted by the National Assembly speaker. To a question, he said that the army would not open fire on anti-government protesters.
