Bomb goes off in Pindi-bound train

QUETTA: A remote-controlled bomb exploded inside a compartment of Rawalpindi-bound passenger train at Sibi railway station on Monday. However, no loss of life was reported. According to Sibi police, unidentified terrorists had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) inside the bathroom of AC apartment coach No 8 of Jaffar Express. The bombing damaged the bathroom and caused panic among the passengers who started running for their lives. However, no loss of life was reported. “It was a remotely controlled IED. Less than half kilogrammes were used in the bombing,” District Police Officer Anwar Kehtran told the reporters. “No loss of life was reported in the attack,” he added. The train was stopped at station after the blast. Police and security forces cordoned off the area after the bombing. Three people who received minor injuries were discharged after giving first aid. The train later left the station after a security clearance.
