ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday constituted a committee comprising of PPP leaders to provide relief to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the North Waziristan Agency.
The committee will be headed by leader of opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah, and PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Khanzada Khan will be its focal person.
PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Balochistan President Sadiq Umrani and former Pakistan Baitul Maal chairman Zamrud Khan will also be members of the committee. PPP MPA in Sindh Assembly Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Senator Usman Saifullah and Senator Rubina Khalid will also be part of the committee, which has been mandated to take measures to provide relief to the IDPs.
Meanwhile, after consultation with the senior party leaders Bilawal announced that all senators, MNAs, and MPAs of the PPP will donate one-month salary for the IDPs.
He requested all party office-bearers and workers to assist the IDPs and provide them support. “The internally displaced persons are our heroes who are undergoing untold sufferings and miseries in the nation’s drive against militants and they must not be left alone in their hour of need,” said the PPP chairman.
Bilawal said that it is time the all the political parties unite and stand with the armed forces for the stability and protection of the country. The PPP chief also requested Khursheed Shah to supervise the relief and rehabilitation activities for the IDPs.
