ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Defence Production seeks suggestions from defence production officials concerning defence production sector on Thursday.
The committee met on Thursday under the chair of Senator Saeeda Iqbal and the issues related to defence production including defence exports, procurement of defence material and relevant matters were discussed. The meeting also discussed different aspects of defence including the defence production budget. The Ministry of Defence Production Brigadier Mazhar Mumtaz Qureshi briefed the panel about export gains made in the defence production sector by means of organising defence exhibitions, especially the IDEAS in the previous years.
He also highlighted problems including those concerning the defence production depots, recommending the need for solutions. The defence committee sought suggestions and recommendations from the defence production officials on problem eradication. Senior officials of Defence Production Ministry and parliamentarians attended the Senate committee’s meeting.
The panel also passed a unanimous resolution against Israel’s brutality in Gaza resulting in the killing of over 600 innocent civilians and calling on Israel to stop the bloodshed and demanding the international community to play its role in this regard.
