KHAIRPUR/QUETTA: At least seventeen people died in two different road accidents on Sunday.
Eleven people were killed and twelve others injured on Sunday near Kotlalo at Mehran National Highway when a passenger wagon collided with a coach going from Quetta to Karachi, police said. The dead included women and children, among them three members of a family. The deceased and the injured were shifted to the Taluka Hospital Faizgunj from where those critically injured were shifted to Nawabshah Hospital. The dead were identified as Khadim Khaskheli, Ghulam Nabi, Azam Solangi, Mairaj Ahmed Shar, Zulekhan, Altaf Daheri, Muneer Ahmed Soomro, Naimatullah Malah, his wife Rahiman Malah and son Ali of Thari Mirwah.
The bodies of the three family members were sent to Thari Mirwah city. Meanwhile, the coach driver escaped. Police has impounded the coach and the wagon. According to police the accident occurred due to speeding. Separately, as many as six people of a family died and four others sustained critical wounds in a deadly collision between a car and pickup on Quetta-Chaman highway near Sayeed Hameed Cross in Qila Saifullah District, on Sunday. The victims were heading to Quetta from Pishin in a car which collided with a pickup coming from the opposite direction. “Five people in the car died on the spot while one succumbed to his injuries near Mezai Adda Hospital,” an official of Levies said.
“The deadly accident took place due to over-speeding and precarious condition of the highway,” an official at Levies Thana said. Four people were critically injured in the accident. The dead bodies were shifted to Pishin.
