ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the alleged poll rigging in the general election of May 2013, while police tortured the protesters.
PTI Additional Secretary General Saifullah Niazi led the protest towards the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). During the protest, capital police stopped the workers in front of the office of Overseas Pakistanis Ministry building but they refused to stop and a scuffle started between the police and the PTI workers.
The police baton-charged the PTI workers. The protesters were carrying placards and party flags.
They marched from the PTI Secretariat in G6/4 to reach the ECP in the Red Zone and chanted slogans against the ECP and poll rigging. The PTI leaders delivered their speeches there and criticised the present government.
