QUETTA: As many as four people were killed while four others sustained injuries when six mud houses collapsed as a result of the torrential rains that continued for a second consecutive day on Sunday.
Balochistan has been facing torrential rains since the last two days which has resulted in the submergence of various areas in districts Lorali and Harnai and has resulted in several casualties. According to the reports, four persons, including three labourers, died and four others sustained injuries when the rainwater entered a house while on the other hand, six mud houses collapsed in the same district. The water flow has also affected the communication system of many parts of Balochistan and land communication remains suspended at various places.
Quetta, Pishin, Ziarat, Kanmehterzai, Khanozai, Killa Abdullah, Zhob, Killa Saifullah and other areas are receiving heavy downpours. The electricity and gas load-shedding in parts of the provincial capital and adjacent districts of Mastung and Kalat has increased the problems of the masses. The roads present a flooded look with the rainwater flowing out of gutters and drains, making it difficult for the pedestrians to pass. The masses seem wary of the inefficiency of the authorities when it comes to the planning and management of the waste water which brings the lives of the people to a standstill during rainy days.
