PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) central ameer Sirajul Haq resigned as senior minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, party sources said on Wednesday. The resignation came after he was elected JI central ameer in March.
According to JI central spokesman Amirul Azim, Sirajul Haq faced difficulties continuing as he was heading the JI as ameer, therefore he tendered resignation from the provincial cabinet to focus on the party.
Sirajul Haq submitted resignation to KP CM on Wednesday after which he vacated the seat to KP senior minister and finance minister. So far the KP government made no formal announcement nor was any notification issued.
MPA Muzaffar Syed from Dir District is likely to replace the outgoing finance minister who also holds the portfolio of senior minister, the sources said.
The JI recommended senior leader and KP Minister for Local Government Inayatullah to be given the senior minister’s portfolio, according to JI sources.
