ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court has issued notice to Syed Khurshid Shah, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, on the application filed by his rival candidate Inayatullah of the Pakistan Muslim League-F on alleged polls rigging in the NA-199 constituency of Sukkar.
The notice has been sent to Khurshid Shah through secretary of the assembly. A 2-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up the case for hearing Thursday. Advocate Shahab Sarki appeared in the court on behalf of Inayatullah. The court was told that notice sent to Khurshid Shah has not been received by him.
The rival candidate had alleged in his petition that rigging had taken place in NA-199 Sukkar during the general election and he had approached the Election Tribunal in this regard. The tribunal had rejected the petition on technical grounds. Later, he resorted to the court against the decision. The hearing of the case was adjourned till May 8.
