PPP wants Nawaz to attend Modi inauguration ceremony

ISLAMABAD: Leader of opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said on Thursday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must attend the oath-taking ceremony of Indian prime minister-designate Narendra Modi. Talking to media, he said that the prime minister’s visit will ease the tensions between Pakistan and India. To a question about the appointment of chief election commissioner (CEC), Shah said he was waiting for the prime minister’s call for consultation on this important matter. To another question, he said the ruling party had pledged to end power outages during the election campaign, but the power supply situation has worsened. Shah also advised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) to take the proposal of Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique seriously. “The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) does not believe in opposition for the sake of opposition, and supports every step taken for democracy,” he said, adding that he was of the view that the ECP members should resign on moral grounds.
