ASTANA – Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain is visiting Kazakhstan to attend Kazakhstan Defence Expo (KADEX) 2014 in the Astana city on the special invitation of Kazakh Defence Authorities.
Upon arrival at Kazakhstan, the minister was accorded a warm welcome by Ambassador of Pakistan Shaukat Ali Mukadam and was taken to the embassy where he was briefed about matters of mutual interest between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony of KADEX was attended by dignitaries and defence delegations from across the world. Minister Tanveer was greeted warmly by Kazakh Minister of Defence Dzhaksybekov Adilbek Ryskeldinovich and held meeting to explore important areas of defence production between the two countries.
During the meeting, they also discussed sensitivity and rising challenges of post 2014 draw down in the region and said that a responsible and vigilant role by the regional players was the need of the hour. The minister said that Pakistan believes in the policy of non-interference, non-aggression and peaceful coexistence with the neighbours.
Rising challenges also create opportunities for better enhancement of capability and Pakistan defence industry was significantly thriving in this regard. “We not only produce defence equipment of low cost with high quality but also vigilant of the NATO standards of defence production,” he said.
The Kazakh minister appreciated Pakistan stride in the field of defence production be it avionics, artillery or naval equipment. He said that Pakistan has significantly increased its capacity of defence production and showed interest in attending IDEAS 2014 to be held in Karachi.
