PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Mehmood Khan on Monday said that the provincial government has set up flood emergency cell in order to cope with possible floods and has allocated Rs 500 million for this objective in Annual Development Programme 2014-15.
He said this while talking to different delegations that called on him to apprise the minister of the problems faced by the people in their respective areas. The minister assured the delegations that their genuine problems would be raised with the relevant quarters.
He directed the concerned staff of the Irrigation Department to work for rehabilitation of people and areas inundated by increase in water level in rivers in Swat and Peshawar. He also directed the concerned staff of his department to work on war footing basis to cope with possible floods in the province and take all precautionary measures in this regard so as to protect precious human lives and properties.
Moreover, he also directed for expecting construction work on embankments, protective walls and other on-going projects in this regard.
