PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday arrested the KP police budget and accounts officer for accumulating assets beyond known sources of income.
Javed Khan was earlier arrested in an arms scandal, in which former KP police chief Malik Naveed is also implicated, on charges of misuse of authority and purchase of substandard and ghost arms for KP Police Department, a NAB statement said. The accused was on bail in earlier case. “During the investigation of arms case it was revealed that the accused has accumulated huge assets worth millions of rupees, including three bungalows and seven plots in Hayatabad and land in village Darmangi, Peshawar.
“Taking cognisance of the case NAB started inquiry and arrested the accused for further investigations,” the statement read. It will produce the accused before an accountability court for obtaining his physical remand on Saturday (today).
