ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will award 3G and 4G spectrum licences (Thursday) to the auction-winning cellular mobile operators here on Thursday (today).
Following auction for the 3G and 4G spectrums by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on April 23, four bidders including Zong, Ufone, Telenor and Mobilink were declared as successful. The government raised $902.82 million in auction for 3G networks and $210 million for the 4G spectrum.
The winning operators started trial services of 3G spectrum for mobile users without any cost. However, the users who wanted to enjoy 3G services will have to pay for it from today and will have to subscribe to a bucket.
Pakistan has more than 132 million mobile phone subscribers and has now provided the more advanced mobile communication technology to its users.
