Justice Raza confirmed as FSC chief justice

ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment (PCJA) on Wednesday unanimously confirmed the nomination of Judicial Commission of Pakistan for appointment of Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, a former judge of the Supreme Court as chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court. Senator Malik M Rafique Rajwana presided over the meeting of the parliamentary committee at the Parliament House. The committee also approved the nominations of four lawyers, namely Amer Raza Naqvi, Syed Saeeduddin Nasir, Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Shahab Sarki, for appointment as additional judges in Sindh High Court. The committee gave its approval after reviewing the reports of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and other institutions. Justice Sardar Raza Khan was the former chief justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC). The meeting was attended by Senator Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq, Senator Farooq Hamid Naek, Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, Muhammad Arshad Khan Leghari, and Senate Secretary Amjad Pervez.
