ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed all authorities concerned to provide financial relief to internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) at registration checkpoints in the form of cash.
Keeping the urgency of the matter in view, the prime minister decided to do away with the use of smart cards for giving immediate financial relief to the IDPs. The prime minister said that disbursement of financial relief through smart cards was a cumbersome process and would delay the relief efforts, according to a press statement.
A committee, consisting of representatives from Army, NDMA, PDMA and SAFRON, will oversee the execution of prime minister’s directives. The Pakistan Army will provide one-month ration to the IDPs, it added.
