ATC grants bail to 44 PAT workers

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday granted bail to 44 workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) arrested during clashes when the police tried to remove barricades from the office of Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town on June 17.
Lawyers representing the PAT workers argued that the police had failed to produce evidence against their clients. After hearing arguments, ATC Judge Khalid Mahmood accepted bail petitions and directed the petitioners to submit bail bonds worth Rs 100,000 each. Meanwhile, 39 PAT workers have been released from Kot Lakhpat jail.
