Pakistan asks Afghanistan to share evidence to substantiate allegations

Afghan ambassador calls on foreign affairs adviser

ISLAMABAD – Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Thursday asked Afghanistan to share evidence to substantiate allegations emanating from Afghan institutions and senior officials, implicating Pakistan in insurgent attacks, acts of terrorism and cross-border shelling.

Talking to Afghan’s Ambassador Janan Mosazai here, Sartaj emphasised that Pakistan sincerely believes that a peaceful, stable and united Afghanistan is in Pakistan's vital interest. He said that Pakistan remains committed to building a friendly and good-neighbourly relationship with Afghanistan on the basis of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“We will continue our efforts to meaningfully address mutual concerns and strengthen trust and understanding,” the adviser said. For this purpose, both the sides must utilise the bilateral mechanisms to reinforce security cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan and improve border controls and management, he said.
