Quetta firing claims 3 lives

Police finger at target killing

QUETTA – At least three people have reportedly been killed and one injured in firing at Munir Mengal Road in Satellite Town area here, local police said on Monday.

According to Superintendent of Police Imran Qureshi, some unidentified armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at a land cruiser, killing two persons sitting inside the vehicle on the spot. One passerby also sustained serious bullet injuries and was being shifted to hospital when he succumbed to his injuries.

The assailants managed to flee from the scene soon after the attack. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem. The law enforcement agencies reached the spot and started investigation into the incident. “This seems to be an act of targeted killing,” the senior police official said.

The police have cordoned off the entire area and launched efforts to trace the suspects. No responsibility was claimed so far for the attack. This incident came two days after a police officer was killed in the same area. Quetta has seen a sharp rise in incidents of violence during the previous month.
