SC reinstates PPP’s SA member

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended the Sindh Election Tribunal decision and restored the membership of Pakistan People’s Party’s Sindh Assembly member Ghulam Qadir Chandio from PS-27. The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk and comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Mushir Alam heard Ghulam Qadir Chandio’s petition against Election Tribunal’s decision for re-election in the constituency. Declaring Chandio ineligible, ECP ordered re-election in PS-27, Nawabshah. The Sindh United Party member Zainul Abedeen had challenged Chandio’s membership of the provincial assembly and had filed a petition in the ECP. The Supreme Court suspended the Election Tribunal decision for re-election in the PS-27. The court accepted his appeal and issued notices to respondents and adjourned hearing of the case for indefinite period.
