3 teachers among 6 killed in Bajaur bombing

PESHAWAR: Six people were killed on Tuesday in a bombing in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur Agency, an ISPR statement read. According to hospital sources in Khar, headquarters of Bajaur region, two schoolchildren were also among those killed. The remote-controlled bomb targeted a school van, the statement also read. It added a non-governmental organisation was running the community-based school. Salarzai tehsil was a stronghold of the Taliban terrorists before they were pushed out in a military operation. Around 20 community schools were set up in the area to promote education among tribal people and the three killed teachers had come from Swabi District, according to a journalist in Khar. No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The terror comes days after a similar explosion killed a child and injured six others in Nawagai tehsil of Bajaur region. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan condemned the attack and expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives. “The elements involved in the heinous crime will no more remain at large and will be brought to justice,” he said.
