Foreign judicial delegates meet CJP


Islamabad: Foreign judicial delegations from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, USA, Iran, UK and Belgium participating in International Judicial Conference 2014 called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani in his Chambers during the second day of International Judicial Conference in Supreme Court, Islamabad on Saturday.
The delegation of Srik Lanka comprised Justice Mohan Peiris, PC, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, delegation of Afghanistan comprised on Dr. Abdul Malik Kamawi, Member of High Council and Director of Public Security Division of Afghanistan Supreme Court, delegation of Nepal comprised Mr. Justice Girish Chandra Lal, Judge, Supreme Court of Nepal and Bipul Neupane, Joint Registrar, Supreme Court of Nepal, delegation of USA comprised Lorna Seitz, Director, International Consortium for Law and Development USA, delegation of Iran comprised Abbas Jaffry Doulat Abadi, Public Prosecutor of General and Revolutionary Courts of Tehran, Farrukh Zad Jahani, Deputy Public Prosecutor of General and Revolutionary Courts of Tehran and Alireza Haghighian, Ambassador, Embassy of Iran, delegation of UK comprised on Professor Dr. Martin W. Lau, School of Oriental Studies and delegation of Belgium comprised on Dr. Sajjad Karim, Conservative Member of the European Parliament, Chairman, European Parliament Friends of Pakistan Group, Brussels.
Chief Justice of Pakistan informed the delegates that International Judicial Conference is a regular annual event. It provides platform to international and national luminaries of law to participate, share their vision and deliberate upon different aspects of law to generate new strategies and approaches to tackle legal issues so as to improve the system of administration of justice. The Conference promotes communication throughout the legal fraternity and enhances the cooperation amongst the judiciaries of different countries as well.
The delegates thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan and congratulated him on successful arrangements of such an international event that brings judiciaries of different countries closer to make most of each others legal experiences, knowledge and wits.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan, at the end of each meeting presented souvenirs to delegates as gesture of goodwill.
