QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly observed a two-minute silence on Wednesday to mourn the killing of minority MPA Handry Massieh, and adopted a condemnation resolution to convey condolences to the members of Massieh’s family.
The Balochistan Assembly’s session was called on the requisition of the members on Tuesday to pay tributes to Massieh. It was chaired by Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali. Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) member Nasarullah Zehry presented a resolution on behalf of the government and opposition to condemn the assassination of the minority MPA. The resolution read that the House condemns the assassination of Massieh and pays him tribute for his services for the masses of the province.
It also called for two-minute silence in honour of his services. The resolution was unanimously adopted by the assembly. Later, Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali informed the House that as a tradition, the House is adjourned customarily when a member passes away and he subsequently adjourned the assembly for an indefinite period of time. Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, provincial leader of the PML-N and Senior Minister Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Minister for Excise and Taxation Jafar Khan Mandokhel, Information Minister Abdul Rahim Zairatwal and members of the opposition were present during the session, among others.
