SUKKAR – Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Saturday asked the federal government to show complete list of Taliban prisoners released by the authority and said that setting free the hardened prisoners is the domain of courts and not the government.
“Releasing hardened prisoners is job of the judiciary. The government should provide us list of released Taliban prisoners,” he told journalist here. The government should too have talked to Taliban about the release of Shahbaz Taseer, son of former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, and Ali Haider Gilani, son of former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani.
The opposition leader went on to say that the meeting recently held between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari was a routine matter. “This (meeting) has nothing to do with recent statement of army chief,” he told a questioner. He also said that reports about change of the chief minister in Sindh were wrong and baseless.
“Our doors are open to all,” he said while commenting on MQM’s expected rejoining of the provincial government, led by the Pakistan People’s Party. Pakistan faced dictatorial regimes or controlled democracies during the last 65 years, but democracy is now flourishing in the country, the PPP leader said.
