ISLAMABAD/KABUL – A trilateral meeting among top military leadership of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) will be held on Monday in Kabul.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Afghan Chief of Army Staff General Sher Mohammad Karimi and ISAF Commander General Joseph Dunford will take part in the meeting.
Afghan Ministry of Defence spokesperson General Zahir Azimi said that Afghan Defence Minister would also attend the tripartite talks, to be held at the ministry. This is the 37th round of such meetings being held at a time when the situation on Pak-Afghan borders is tense due to firing incidents.
The tripartite commission talk comes as tensions flared up between Pakistan and Afghanistan due to cross-border fire exchange last week. The Afghan government accused Pakistan for violating a trilateral agreement by attempting to set up military installations along the Durand Line which resulted into clashes the forces.
