Collection of poetry by Shaheen Attiq’s mother launched


LAHORE: A collection of poetry titled Thousand Perfumed Dreams by Farhat Attiqur Rahman, the mother of former minister for social welfare Shaheen Attiqur Rahman, was launched at a local hotel on Tuesday. Minister for Social Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Justice (r) Nasira Javed Iqbal, former National College of Arts principal Nazish Attaullah, Shams Iftikhar Shafi, Begum Shahryar Khan and a large number of literature lovers were present on the occasion. The book is a collection of poems the spouse of the late Brigadier Attiqur Rahman had written during her life span. Addressing the ceremony, Shaheen Attiqur Rahman said that her mother wrote several books but that she did not get them published because of a hidden fear that ‘what people would think about her work’. “But some of her poems were found; and we decided to get them published as we want to show that how much literature lover she was,” Shaheen added. She said that her mother had a passion to eradicate corruption from society. Justice Nasira said that Farhat was a charming lady with a different behaviour with members of the entire family whether they are children or elders. She said that Farhat had feelings for her mates and family members and that was why she was so famous among the entire family. She said that it was a special moment for her to speak to such an august gathering.
