ISLAMABAD – The use of traditional cooking clay pots is regaining popularity in due to it's all-natural benefits, affordable prices and outstanding cooking results.
A number of stall of clay pottery includes plates, cups, bowls, vases, glass, jugs, water cooler, children clay toys, decoration pieces, terracotta vases and many other clay pots could be witnessed in various markets and weekly bazaars of the federal capital.
Hamid Ali – a shopper at weekly bazaar – said that the clay pots were available in affordable prices. He said that his family preferred to use traditional clay pots due to its healthy advantages. Gujarat is popular for its unique clay pot industry. Its clay pot products are exported to different parts of Pakistan and abroad.
Tourist who visits Gujarat usually take keen interest in the clay items. A clay pot vendor at F-6 Super Market said that demand of the clay pots has increased in the capital as it is available at affordable rates and has positive effect on taste and health.
Dr Asif – a medical practitioner – said that food cooked in clay is not only incredibly tasty but also healthy. The process of cooking in clay is similar to that of steaming: little fat and liquid are required and the food's vital nutrients and vitamins are retained, he added.
Unlike steaming, he said food cooked in clay browns in an enclosed vessel. He advised the people to use clay pots for healthy life.
