ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Water and Power Khwaja Muhammad Asif has said that supplies will be terminated if consumers will not pay their electricity and water bills in response to the appeal of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan for civil disobedience.
In an interview, Asif said that free supplies of electricity were out of question. The government was ready to hold talks with the marchers but would not compromise on law and the constitution, he said. He also said that the talks committee would include representatives from different political parties.
The federal minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif himself went to Imran Khan's house to meet him. On Sunday night, the PTI chairman urged people not to pay taxes or utility bills as a protest against the government.
