Injured Pakistani student leaves India for home

ISLAMABAD: Ali Hassan Raza, a Pakistani national who was studying in India’s Pondicherry University and who was injured by unidentified persons on Tuesday, has left for home after Indian authorities allowed him to travel back. Raza flew to New Delhi from Chennai wherefrom he will take another flight to Lahore, The New Indian Express reported. In a telephonic conversation, Raza said that the Indian Home Ministry had permitted him to return to his country, adding that the Pondicherry police was escorting him. He said the case was still pending and that in case his presence was required, he would come back and cooperate with the investigation. Raza was the first and the only Pakistani student in the Pondicherry University. He said that he was returning as a victor as he achieved his aim of getting the postgraduate degree and earning the goodwill of the people of India. Three unidentified men allegedly attacked Raza when he was asleep in his room at Sir CV Raman Hostel on Tuesday. Raza sustained head, neck and back injuries.
