ISLAMABAD: The country’s leadership and political parties have expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives as result of a bombing that took place in Tableeghi Markaz in Peshawar.
Expressing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families, President Mamnoon Hussain prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and courage for the bereaved families to bear the loss with fortitude.
The president also called upon the authorities concerned to ensure that best medical assistance is provided to the injured.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also condemned the bomb blast.
In his condolence message, the prime minister expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families. He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and courage to the bereaved families to bear the loss with fortitude.
In his message, former president Asif Ali Zardari said that it is a heinous crime to target worshippers in a mosque and there could be no strong words enough to condemn this brutal attack on innocent people.
He said that the resolve of the nation to fight terrorism to the end cannot be weakened by these cowardly attacks.
He urged people to unite and fight this menace of extremism and terrorism.
The former president also prayed to God to grant peace to the departed souls and courage and strength to bear the loss of their loved ones. He also prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
Pakistan People’s Party Patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the bomb blast.
In a statement, Bilawal said that culprits involved in the attack were not only enemies of the country but also enemies of Islam, a religion of peace.
“We are invaded in every inch of our land, in our holy places, in our lives and honour,’’ he added.
The PPP leader stressed that all the political forces would have to unite and evolve a joint strategy to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
Bilawal sympathised with the families of victims who have lost their lives and limbs in the blast and prayed to God to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.
He also stressed that special arrangements should be made for timely treatment of all those injured in the blast.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said that such an inhuman attack had been perpetrated by those who seek to promote chaos around to further destabilise the country.
“How can a Muslim assassinate his brothers in cold blood when Islam is a religion of peace and love and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is an absolute icon of mercy and compassion? These kinds of attacks are being hatched and executed by those who could be better termed as infidels and enemies of Islam and Pakistan.”
Imran pointed out that a new but chaotic wave of terror across the country was due to apprehensive and criminal neglect by the federal government that had earlier been empowered by all political parties unanimously to carry out negotiations with armed groups in the mandate forwarded by APC.
Separately, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Ashrafi has announced a “strong protest” today (Friday) over the bombing of Tableeghi Markaz. The Sunni Ittehad Council has also announced a protest today against the bombing.
