Schools receive threats in Makran

QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly member and leader of the ruling National Party (NP), Haji Islam Baloch has said that a “shadow extremist group” has been threatening private schools in Makran Division telling them to stop educational activities or face serious consequences.“Due to this critical situation, all private schools in Panjgour and Turbat have closed down their educational activities and this closure is badly destroying education of thousands of children,” he said, adding that teachers are being threatened and tortured, owing to which they are compelled to move to other areas. He raised this issue on a point of order during the Thursday session of the Balochistan Assembly which was presided over by Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali.“Education is being destroyed in Makran Division, forcing the teachers to take to streets and observe strikes,” he said, adding that it is a huge cruelty with Balochistan where education sector is already in a pathetic condition. The NP leader informed the House that an extremist group opposed to co-education and private institution is forcing the private institutions to end all their activities in Panjgour and other parts of Makran Division.
