Fazl demands code of conduct for media

JUI-F chief says some TV channels promoting vulgarity

ISLAMABAD – Jamiat Ulem-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that an ideological war is being waged in Pakistan by broadcasting blasphemous programmes on family members of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Speaking on the floor of the house here on Friday, the JUI-F leader said that there were some channels that were promoting vulgarity in Pakistan. About curfew in North Waziristan, he said that the individuals have been facing severe difficulties due to ongoing curfew.

“War is being fought against the local people despite fighting against terrorists,” he added. Fazl asked the government to chalk out a code of conduct for media. Outside the Parliament House, Fazl told reporters that they were ready for registration of seminaries.

However, he reiterated that seminaries have no link with terrorism.
