ISLAMABAD – Islamabad High Court (IHC) has accepted a petition seeking early hearing of Dr Aafia Siddiqui release case. The court has sought reply again from the Ministry of Foreign, the Interior Ministry and the Prime Minister Secretariat. A single bench of IHC presided over by Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi took up the case for hearing on Tuesday. Sajid Qureshi and Barrister Zulfiqar Ali counsels for the petitioner appeared in the court and took the plea that neither any reply has been received from the government nor any regular hearing of the case has taken place despite courts orders. He also filed miscellaneous petition in the court for early hearing of the case. Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi remarked that the case is sensitive nature. The counsel should complete the arguments till next week. The court admitted for hearing the miscellaneous petition and ordered for fixing the case for hearing next week. The petition was filed by Dr Fouzia Siddiqui, sister of Dr Aafia Siddiqui taking the plea that no contact could be made with her sister Dr Aafia Siddiqui despite lapse of over 2 years. Family members will be informed about her health condition. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take up the case of Dr Aafia Siddiqui with the US president and hold special talk with him to secure release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
